ABSTRACT

We retrospectively studied six patients with cerebellopontine angle (CPA) meningiomas who showed enhancement within the internal auditory canal (IAC) on gadolinium-DTPA-enhanced MRI at 1.5T. In three patients, intracanalicular enhancement took the form of fine linear enhancement, along the walls, while in the others enhancement was observed diffusely within the canal. Enhancement within the IAC might be observed in patients with CPA meningiomas with or without invasion and high resolution MRI was helpful to separate meningeal spaces from the nerve complex within the IAC and to demonstrate the meningeal origin of enhancement by meningiomas.
