ABSTRACT

Since diffuse liver disease usually represents alternation of its metabolic pathway, imaging played a limited role in evaluating diffuse liver disease whereas it is crucial for focal liver lesion detection and characterization. Owing to imaging technology advances and hepatic-specific contrast agents, currently ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging have been widely used for diagnosis of diffuse liver disease, determining the causes of the diffuse liver disease, assessing extent of the disease, and monitoring its progression.
