ABSTRACTEine prolongierte mechanische Kreislaufunterstützung bei Kindern wurde zuerst mittels Herz-Lungen-Maschine durchgeführt. In den 1970er-Jahren kamen Membranoxygenatoren zum Einsatz, mit denen die Dauer der Behandlung über Tage gestreckt werden konnte (Bartlett et al. 1976; del Nido et al. 1994; Mehta et al. 2000).
