ABSTRACT

In this paper, a two-stage image zooming scheme is proposed. In the first stage, the bilinear interpolation technique is employed to recover the unknown pixels in the smooth areas. In the second stage, the vector quantization approximation technique is used to determine the unknown pixels in the edge boundary. From the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed scheme provides better image quality than the linear prediction technique, the local adaptive zooming technique and the vector quantization zooming technique.
