ABSTRACTDas Management des akuten Abdomens erfordert eine rasche und präzise Diagnose. Hierbei spielen v. a. der Ultraschall (US) sowie die Computertomographie (CT) eine wesentliche Rolle. Die relativ hohen Kosten, die beschränkte Verfügbarkeit und die oftmals langen Untersuchungszeiten sind die Hauptgründe für den zurückhaltenden Einsatz der Magnetresonanztomographie (MRT) in der Notfallsituation. Nichtsdestotrotz besitzt die MRT zahlreiche Vorteile gegenüber den anderen Modalitäten und kann dadurch eine wertvolle Alternative zum US und zur CT bei dezidierten klinischen Szenarien wie spezifischen Fragestellungen sein (Singh et al. 2007).
