ABSTRACT

Prediction of the climate system evolution is an extremely difficult task, because the time and spatial scales involved make data collection complex and lengthy and forecasting full of uncertainties. Furthermore, carrying out real experiments, which is the usual approach of modern science to gain insight on complex physical phenomena, is impossible in the case of the whole Earth system. Indeed, the evolution of modern industry and technology can be seen as a unique, albeit unwilling, planetary scale experiment. More... »
