ABSTRACT

In many organisms, the study of developmental processes has made remarkable advances with the use of mutants, which are excellent tools to elucidate gene functions. In plants, mutants generated using diverse mutagens (i.e., chemical, physical or biological insertions that produce gene knockouts), or naturally occurring mutants/variants have revealed the biological role of key developmental genes. With the help of mutants, it has been possible to identify and clone numerous genes involved in many different aspects of plant development. More... »
