ABSTRACT

Pel is manufactured throughout the world on a relatively large scale, for eventual oxidation mainly to phosphoric acid and phosphates, although a small amount is used as Pel for poisons and munitions. The nature of its chemical processing is such that releases of Pel to the environment are likely to occur at the site of manufacture, use, or (occasionally) during shipment. Pel is acutely toxic to all organisms examined so far. The lethal dose to man is around 1 mg · kg−1 body weight. More... »
