ABSTRACT

The current literature on “diamond-based” clusters needs to incorporate international business theory concepts such as the flagship framework and the nature of subsidiary-specific advantages. This is because the traditional focus on domestic clusters, consistent with Porter’s (1990) “diamond” framework largely neglects the value of trans-border multinational enterprise (MNE) activity.
