ABSTRACT

Integration of sensors and actuators via the Internet can optimize energy consumption. Hence, IoT devices will integrate several types of energy consuming things and connect them to the energy supply company to balance power generation and usage. Users will interact with their appliances, or handle them using a cloud-based interface. This article describes an intelligent electric energy meter relying on the Esp8266 microcontroller with the NodeMCU firmware as an IoT gateway to forward in conjunction with current and voltage sensors connected to the ThingSpeak analysis platform. The resulting values were used as a way of timely controlling the consumption of low-power appliances. More... »
