ABSTRACTHysterectomy was once the primary management for benign pathologies such as heavy menstrual bleeding and fibroid uterus. In recent years advances in medical therapy and ablation techniques commonly manage these conditions, and thus hysterectomies are now performed less frequently. As a result, only gynaecologists with the appropriate training, will perform hysterectomies. Each type of hysterectomy has its own set of individual risks and if not promptly addressed can result in litigation.
