ABSTRACTMelanoma is a malignant proliferation of neoplastic melanocytes. These occur as primary lesions in any region where melanocytes are resident, including the skin, mucosa, uveal tract and meninges. Additionally metastatic melanoma may present without an identified primary lesion. This chapter will concentrate primarily on cutaneous melanoma, which represents around 90% of cases of melanoma in regions with predominant Caucasian populations. More... »
