ABSTRACT

An understanding of potential voiding dysfunctions is essential in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative periods of an individual with SCI. This chapter reviews the anatomy, neurophysiology, and expected type of bladder function based on the level of injury and urodynamic findings. The different types of bladder managements available to the SCI patient are discussed. This chapter also reviews some of the more common urological problems in those with SCI such as urinary tract infections, autonomic dysreflexia, and bladder stones. More... »
