ABSTRACT

Supratentorial congenital malformations of the brain have various pathologies, and it arises in deferent terms of the development of the fetus brain. Several anomalies are associated with hydrocephalus, such as cephaloceles, holoprosencephaly, interhemispheric cyst accompanied with agenesis of the corpus callosum, lissencephaly (Walker-Warburg syndrome and muscle-eye-brain disease), schizencephaly, and hydranencephaly. Although the purpose of controlling hydrocephalus is not directly related to preventing the delay of neurodevelopment, treating hydrocephalus for these pathologies may be necessary to control the size of the head for adequate care. Treatment of these supratentorial congenital anomalies with hydrocephalus will be reviewed along with a brief review of congenital anomalies. More... »
