ABSTRACT

A chimeric gene was constructed consisting of the promoter of the nopaline synthase gene of Agrobacterium tumefaciens and the structural gene of the aminoglycoside phosphotransferase derived from the transposon Tn5 (APH(3′)II) gene). This chimeric gene was recombined into the T-DNA of Agrobacterium. This plasmid was introduced into plant cells by means of the cocultivation method.
