ABSTRACT

It is now well documented that regularly performed endurance exercise, such as long distance running, results in major biochemical adaptations in skeletal muscle [2, 8, 21, 22, 29, 35, 36, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 50, 63]. The various components of this adaptive response have, to a large extent, been characterized over the past 8 years and will be described in this review.
