ABSTRACT

Microscopic model analysis of inelastic proton scattering has been so far only moderately successful, being plagued by uncertainties in the nucleon-nucleon (N-N) interaction to be used and by doubts as whether a direct mechanism could fully account for the data. In particular, the results for the analysing powers (A.P.) were mostly disappointing and the fits in no way comparable to those from macroscopic model analyses. The stpposedly poor quality of the wave functions has been blamed for the apparent failure of the model. More... »
