ABSTRACT

Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most difficult cancers to treat effectively. It is one of the largest cancer killers with universally poor survival rates. It claims over 6,500 lives per year in the U.K.,1 over 40 000 in Europe,1,2 nearly 19 000 in Japan3 and almost 30 000 annually in the United States.4-7 The median survival for all stages of pancreatic cancer is less than 3–5 months from diagnosis, with a five year survival of 0.4–3%.1,7,8 More... »
