ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to design and analyze an o-ring driven liquid-filled lens (ODLL). This lens is composed of a liquid chamber, a membrane and an o-ring device. The oring is on the top of the membrane and is used to change the curvature of the membrane. When the actuators move the ring up or down evenly, the curvature of the membrane is changed and the focus can be varied according to the magnitude of movement. The direction of the light can also varied by tilting the o-ring. The mathematical model of the membrane is developed to find the deformation of the membrane under different o-ring movement. Effective focal length and direction of the light can be obtained by substituting the aspherical equation of the shape of the membrane deformation into ZEMAX software.
