ABSTRACT

The incidence of insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) varies enormously among populations.1,2 The geographic variation in IDDM incidence is higher than that for coronary heart disease and for cancer. A 30-fold difference in IDDM risk has been demonstrated between the country with the highest incidence of IDDM in the world, Finland, compared with a country having one of the lowest reported incidence rates, Korea.3 More... »
