ABSTRACT

Liquid mixture can be separated by partial vaporization through a non-porous permselective membrane. This technique which was originally called ‘liquid permeation’, has subsequently been termed ‘pervaporation’ in order to emphasize the fact that the permeate undergoes a phase change, from liquid to vapor, during its transport through the barrier.
