ABSTRACT

In this paper, that is an extended abstract of the talk presented at the Symposium on the Supervisory Control of Discrete Event Systems held in Paris in July 2001, we deal with the problem of estimating the marking of a Place/Transition net based on event observation. We assume that the net structure is known while the initial marking is only partially known and we give an algorithm to construct an observer that computes a marking estimate. The special structure of Petri nets allows us to use a simple linear algebraic formalism for estimate and error computation. The main advantage of this approach is that the proposed observer can also be used in a state feedback control loop. More... »
