ABSTRACT

There has recently been much work directed towards describing functionally distinct classes of lymphocytes and charting their ontogeny from a multipotential stem cell in the bone marrow. The T-cell lineage has been extensively studied using the surface markers available (1,2). Although a number of studies do suggest the existence of subpopulations of B-cells, a system of functional markers analogous to the Lyt system of T-cells has not yet been defined. More... »
