ABSTRACT

The measurement of tissue-PO2 with the multiwire surface electrode developed by Kessler and Lubbers is a well known method in the physiological research (Kessler et al, 1966). We, as clinicians, recognise the importance of local PO2 measurement in determining a totally new parameter, which can not be obtained from any routine clinical investigation. The important information concerning microcirculation which can be obtained this way may, under some circumstances, be of crucial importance in survival of critically ill patients. More... »
