ABSTRACT

From the original work on TCNQ compounds (1) and from several more recent publications dealing with this matter (2,3) one has to conclude, that most crystalline 1:1 charge transfer adducts of planar nitrogen hetero-cycles with the acceptor TCNQ. are not highly conducting. Only a few exceptions have been reported so far: the so-called “NMP-TCNQ” (5-Methy1phenazinium-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethanide) (3,4), 5,8-Dihydro-xyquinolinium-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethanide (DHQn-TCNQ) (1), 1-Amino-2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-4-hyd roxybenzenium-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethanide (AHB-TCNQ) (1) and 1-Methylqui noxa1inium-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethanide (1-MQ-TCNQ) (2).
