ABSTRACT

Shchegolev (1) noted the striking similarities in the physical properties of quasi one-dimensional (1-d) systems (2,3) based on partly oxidized inorganic complexes such as Krogmann (4) salts and ion radical organic crystals such as TCNQ salts (5). These systems are very different chemically; furthermore, there is enormous variety within each group. Nevertheless, the rather detailed picture of the inorganic conductor KCP (K2Pt(CN)4Br.3·3.2H20) summarized by Zeller (6) has also been proposed (7) for the organic conductor TTF-TCNQ (tetrathiafulvalene-tetracyanoquinodimethane). Thus clear similarities persist, even on the more thorough level of modern solid-state methods, in the electric properties of 1-d inorganic and organic conductors. These similarities undoubtedly reflect the columnar arrangement of planar subunits in both cases. More... »
