ABSTRACT

We have studied biotransformation of foreign substrates by plant cell suspension cultures. The plant cells have the ability to specifically convert cheap and plentiful substrates into more useful compounds. In this chapter, we report the selecstivities such as regio-selectivity, stereoselectivity, enantioselectivity and glycosylation by biotransformation of monoterpenoids, alkaloids, steroids and other organic compounds by the various plant cell suspension cultures.
