ABSTRACT

Double differential cross sections for inclusive (p, p’) reactions have been measured at the National Accelerator Centre, Faure, South Africa for a range of targets with mass numbers between 12 and 197, and for incident energies from 80 to 200 MeV. Extensive comparisons have been made with multistep direct calculations based on the Feshbach, Kerman and Koonin theory. Good general agreement has been found using a short-range Yukawa two-body interaction, and some systematic discrepancies at the lowest and highest excitation energies have also been investigated. In the most recent experiments analyzing powers have been measured in addition to the cross-sections. More... »
