ABSTRACT

We analyze tunneling and high resolution photoemission experiments in the superconducting phase of high Tc materials. Our model is based on a “mixed Fermion-Boson” Hamiltonian, where a band of paired states overlaps the Fermi level of a wider Fermion band. In a simple mean field approximation, superconductivity is characterized by two coupled order parameters. Related to them two types of fermionic excitations appear, which can respectively be associated to Cooper pair breaking and local pair phase correlation breaking. The former processes produce a gap, and the latter are responsible for the anomalous V-shaped contribution to the tunneling (and photoemission) density of states. More... »
