ABSTRACT

Meiotic mutants which result in the formation of 2n pollen are being utilized in potato research involving breeding, evolution, germplasm transfer, and half-tetrad analysis (Peloquin, 1982). Hybrid 2x clones that form 2n pollen (pollen with the unreduced chromosome number) by either the genetic equivalent of first division restitution with crossingover, FDR-CO, (parallel spindles mutant, ps) or FDR without crossing-over (parallel spindles in combination with the synaptic 3 mutant, sy 3) provide the genetic stocks for these investigations (Mok and Peloquin, 1975a; Okwuagwu, 1981).
