Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA, a chelating agent with a high stability constant for lead, is commonly used for the diagnosis and treatment of pad poisoningl,2; but EDTA has also a very high stability constant for zinc and is therefore expected to bind and remove this essential trace element.
