ABSTRACT

Femoroacetabular impingement is a common cause of significant damage to the hip joint and subsequent osteoarthritis. Most cases of FAI can be treated with arthroscopic surgery. Impingement morphology may exist as a normal incidental finding without secondary damage to the joint. Thus, arthroscopy is an important part of the treatment algorithm in identifying the damage indicative of pathological impingement and the need for correction. This chapter precisely outlines the understanding of FAI and the role of arthroscopy in its management with detailed illustrations of various arthroscopic options for treatment. More... »
