ABSTRACT

The ESA Darwin mission will search for extrasolar Earth-like planets within the Habitable Zone of stars, study the physical–chemical properties of their atmospheres, identify potential biosignatures, and carry out comparative planetology. In order to achieve these objectives, a suitable sample of stars with very well known properties have to be selected. In this contribution, the Darwin star catalogue is briefly described, as well as some of the current and future observational efforts aiming to characterize the Darwin targets. More... »
