ABSTRACTThe aim of this chapter is to consider the important principles and aspects of anaesthesia that are relevant to oncologists and surgeons. The chapter will focus upon preoperative preparation for surgery, peri-operative management including monitoring and analgesia along with salient principles of postoperative management. Urological procedures vary from minor day cases to major exploratory or reconstructive surgery. Regardless of the magnitude of surgery there is a need to manage patient physiology and biochemistry with control of pain such that the overall patient experience is excellent. More... »
