ABSTRACT

Lyman and Balmer transitions of antiprotonic hydrogen and deuterium have been measured at the Low-Energy Antiproton Ring LEAR at CERN in order to determine the strong-interaction effects. In LEAR experiment PS207, the X-rays were detected using Charge-Coupled Devices (CCDs) and a reflection-type crystal spectrometer. A complete set of strong-interaction parameters for the 1s and the 2p levels is now available for both after evidence was found for the transition. More... »

27 schema:description Lyman and Balmer transitions of antiprotonic hydrogen and deuterium have been measured at the Low-Energy Antiproton Ring LEAR at CERN in order to determine the strong-interaction effects. In LEAR experiment PS207, the X-rays were detected using Charge-Coupled Devices (CCDs) and a reflection-type crystal spectrometer. A complete set of strong-interaction parameters for the 1s and the 2p levels is now available for both after evidence was found for the transition.
