ABSTRACT

Continuous cell lines are not capable of complete oxidising glucose via the TCA cycle. Recently, we presented a strategy of inverse metabolic engineering to increase the glycolytic flux into the TCA. This work summarises the effect of yeast pyruvate carboxylase 2 (PYC2) expressed in the cytoplasm of different host systems: BHK-21, CHO-K1, CHO-DG44, HEK293 and BTI-Tn-5B1-4 (High Five™) cells.
