ABSTRACT

The development of the obsessive-compulsive spectrumdisorders as a group of conditions linked by similar core symptomatology has inspired much debate among scholars. In light of the current trend to seek empirically validated and effective treatment strategies, this concept has become more useful. Similar symptomatology suggests possibly similar treatment approaches, which is particularly helpful for disorders that have traditionally been a challenge to treat, such as body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) and hypochondriasis (HC).
