ABSTRACT

The evolution at high pressure of the title compounds cell parameters has been investigated up to ≈10 GPa by synchrotron x-ray diffraction (XRD) using a diamond anvil cell and an imaging plate 2D detector. The compressibility is found to be highly anisotropic, with easy compressibility along the stacking axis of the structure. The effect of applied pressure appears to be similar to the internal pressure effect brought about by Ca substitution. A strong anomaly in the a parameter variation is observed at pressures increasing with Ca content in the 6–8 GPa range. This anomaly could be related to the disappearance of superconductivity observed in the same pressure range. More... »
