ABSTRACT

The invention relates to a method for operating a mixed potential sensor for detecting a content of oxidisable gases, wherein the mixed potential sensor is operated at a predefined measuring temperature during a measuring phase. In order to detect sensitivity losses of the mixed potential sensor unambiguously and to be able, if appropriate, to perform regeneration, a sensitivity of the mixed potential sensor is determined on the basis of an electrochemical variable of the mixed potential sensor in the absence of oxidisable gases and when there is a given content of oxygen, which variable is determined on the basis of a voltage which differs from an electromotive force of the mixed potential sensor, and, if appropriate, depending on an external parameter the mixed potential sensor is subjected to a regeneration treatment by means of cyclical voltage profiles, applied to the mixed potential sensor within a predefined time interval, within a predefined voltage interval. The method is carried out, in particular, in a combustion system with a mixed potential sensor. A corresponding control means for said combustion system is proposed. More... »
