ABSTRACT

A method for increasing the cellulose and/or glucose content of sugarcane is described, wherein a heterologous polypeptide encoding a cellulose synthase having an amino acid sequence which is at least 70% identical to SEQ ID NO: 1 is expressed in the sugarcane.
