ABSTRACTPromoters that include nucleic acid sequences with a sequence identity to any of SEQ ID NOs: 1-3 of greater than 98% over at least 100, 200, 500, 1000, or 1500 consecutive nucleotides are provided. Also provided are transcription terminators, nucleic acids that include the promoters and/or terminators, expression cassettes that include the disclosed nucleic acid molecules, transformed plants containing the disclosed nucleic acid molecules, cells containing the disclosed promoters operably linked to heterologous nucleotide sequences, methods for producing a transformed plants, and methods for identifying non-Zea mays nucleic acid molecules with transcriptional regulatory activity.
