ABSTRACT

Nucleotide sequence capable of conferring resistance to infection by the sugar beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) on cells expressing the said sequence, comprising a nucleic acid fragment derived from the 5' end of the genomic or subgenomic RNA2, this fragment encoding at least a portion of the proteins encoded by nucleotides 145 to 3,285 of the wild-type sequence of the RNA2, the said fragment being under the control of a promoter permitting the expression of the fragment in plant cells and being in sense or antisense orientation.
