ABSTRACT

Determining the standard DNA methylation degree of a DNA-segment, which occurs only at one gene locus of genomic DNA sample comprises (a) quantitative determination of the presence of the DNA segment in the sample, (b) quantitative determination of the presence of at least one differentially methylated cytidine of a cytidine-guanidine dinucleotide (CpG) within the DNA segment, and (c) determination of the standardized DNA methylation degree of the DNA segment over the value determined in the step (a) and (b). An independent claim is included for determining the relative DNA methylation degree comprising (a1) determination of the methylation degree for a first genomic DNA and a second genomic DNA, and determination of the relative DNA methylation degree via the ratio specific methylation degree of the first and second DNA.
