ABSTRACT

A tomato resistant to cucumber mosaic virus and a method for transforming tomatoes are disclosed. The tomato has a cDNA of a satellite RNA of cucumber mosaic virus. The method for transforming a tomato according to the present invention comprises transforming the tomato with Agrobacterium tumefaciens to which a plasmid containing a DNA region originating from the virulence region of Ti plasmid pTiBo542, and a cDNA of a satellite RNA of cucumber mosaic virus are introduced.
