ABSTRACT

A process for the continuous production of superconductors on the basis of magnesium diboride in the form of rods, wires, strips, and strips, wherein said method comprises the steps of: a. providing a metal pipe, which at one end is closed, and the loading by the open end with a mixture of finely ground mg - powder and amorphous boron powder in an atomic ratio in the range from 1: 1,8 to 1: 2,2, optionally with additives, example, the evacuation of the above-mentioned tube through the open end under a vacuum of approximately 0,01 torr by conventional processes and flattening of the unfilled part of the above-mentioned tube at a pressure of about 1 gpa, c. sealing of the open end of the above mentioned, loaded tube by means of cold welding, without melt (flux) by applying a conventional method, that deformation of the abovementioned sealed tube by means of grooves - or flat - rollers, in order to achieve the desired deformed rod - or - the form of strips to obtain, e. electrical heat by hot rolling..
