Concept Info

NAME

Selenium-binding proteins

DESCRIPTION

Selenium-binding proteins are proteins that bind to the element selenium (Se, atomic number 34). Some selenium-binding proteins help selenium to mediate its anti-carcinogenic properties. Selenium-binding proteins are distinct from selenoproteins whose amino acid sequences contain a selenium-modified cysteine (Se-cys)
