NAME

Organogenesis

DESCRIPTION

Organogenesis is the process by which the internal organs and specific structures such as the limb are formed during development of an organism. Organogenesis involves the coordination of multiple developmental processes such as embryonic induction, pattern formation, morphogenesis, cell proliferation and differentiation.

81 skos:definition Limb development is the process by which a limb forms in the vertebrate embryo. Early in limb development, outgrowths called the limb buds form on the flanks of the embryo, and these develop into mature limbs by the coordinated processes of pattern formation, cell proliferation, differentiation and morphogenesis.

101 skos:definition Musculoskeletal development refers to the processes by which the skeletal muscles, bone and cartilage of the body form, mainly from the embryonic mesoderm. Understanding musculoskeletal development helps in the understanding of congenital musculoskeletal disorders.

112 skos:definition Neurogenesis is the formation of neurons from neural stem cells occurring during embryonic development and throughout adult life. During neurogenesis, neural stem cells divide and differentiate to form mature neurons. Mature neurons do not divide and carry extensions such as axons and dendrites, allowing them to send and receive electrical pulses.
