DESCRIPTION

DNA mismatch repair is a process that removes and replaces nucleotides that are erroneously inserted during DNA replication. Non-complementary bases on the newly synthesized DNA strand are recognized and excised, often with surrounding bases, to generate a gap that is repaired by copying the undamaged DNA strand.
