ABSTRACT

A novel densovirus (DNV) was isolated and identified from the cotton bollworms (Helicoverpa armigera), named HaDNV-1, which was a member of Densovirinae within Parvoviridae and widely distributed in H. armigera population. By bioassay, we found that the viruse could promote the development of cotton bollworms by shortening laval and pupal calendar period. Tissue distribution of HaDNV-1 indicated the virus particles were significantly more in fat body than other tissues. Ecdysteroids (Ecd) and juvenile hormones (JH) play critical roles in regulation insect development. Based on the above results, the project focused on the regulatory mechanism by investigating titers of Ecd/JH and analyzing the expression pattern of the pivotal genes during synthesis and degradation.
