ABSTRACT

Practically all modern biology, incl. And the study of biological diversity, is based on the methods of molecular and cellular biology and genomics. At present, our team has collected one of the largest collections of cell cultures, tissues and DNA samples of vertebrate species, primarily mammals of the world fauna, mainly in Russia and neighboring countries. In liquid nitrogen and freezers, about 5,000 units for more than 400 species are stored at -80 ° C. Most of our collections are not available in other similar major collections. In recent years, we have begun to isolate, preserve and study "ancient DNA" from samples of bone remains of animals from various collections, primarily the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS. In 2014, a working group was organized to deal with the problems of soil metagenomics, i.e. Description of the diversity of soil microorganisms using sequencing of a new generation. The aim of the project is to significantly expand the collection of cell cultures and DNA samples of modern and "ancient" vertebrate species, primarily the Asian part of Russia, a description of the diversity and evolution of species at the chromosomal and genomic levels. Work will begin on the study of the diversity at the genomic level of the organisms inhabiting the soils of Siberia, at the present stage the description of the metagenome of the Vasyugan bog.
